More and more clients have been coming to us recently for help with computer problems after receiving a ‘call from Microsoft, requesting remote access’ to their computer. And now that computer is acting ‘funny’ – everything from password lockouts to spyware symptoms.
A helpful question to ask yourself when Microsoft calls you is, did you call them first? If you did not call Microsoft and you are not expecting a call-back from them, they’re not really Microsoft. Microsoft does not make cold calls to ensure everything is going well in your world!
When in doubt, resist that urge to cooperate with authority figures and say ‘No thanks!’ politely (or not so politely), and hang right up.
